Brushless blender „Santos“ #62

Brushless blender, 30 recipes

The „Santos“ #62 Expert is a programmable commercial blender with a brushless motor and a sound enclosure. Its memory holds 30 recipes for cold drinks — cocktails, smoothies, milkshakes, granitas and iced coffee — and the jug takes up to 1.4 L.

The blender is designed for bars and juice bars, coffee shops, hotels, restaurants and fast-food chains. The manufacturer's manual also covers other drinks made with crushed ice and blended fruit, and the 2026 „Santos“ catalogue states that the #62 crushes every kind of ice cube.

Unlike a universal motor, a brushless motor has no carbon brushes, and its rotor carries permanent magnets. According to „Santos“, this gives the motor a long service life, excellent energy efficiency and a low noise level, and the motor needs no maintenance. The manufacturer describes the #62 as the world's first blender with a brushless motor. Maximum torque is 8 N·m.

Blades, jug and sound enclosure

The blades turn in both directions — a patented system that „Santos“ calls Dual Crushing Action. According to the manufacturer, this two-way action crushes and blends all kinds of ingredients in a few seconds, including hard ice cubes and frozen fruit. The blades are titanium nitride (TiN) coated, and „Santos“ describes them as highly durable and suited to intensive use.

The clear, bisphenol A-free plastic jug has a handle and volume markings in millilitres and ounces. It suits both right- and left-handed users, and jugs stack inside one another. Fill the jug no higher than the 1.4 L mark, and less for thick mixtures; its total volume is 2.4 L. Materials in contact with food comply with Regulations (EC) No 1935/2004 and (EU) No 10/2011. An additional jug with lid and blades (62100) is available in the ‘Blender accessories’ field.

A removable sound enclosure with a seal covers the jug, and a removable mat under the jug reduces noise and vibration. „Santos“ puts the blender's very quiet running down to the enclosure, the brushless motor and this mat. The manufacturer gives a noise level of 63 dB(A) at 1 m, measured at top speed under load.

On the counter or built in

The #62 can stand on a bar counter or worktop, or be built into the counter without any extra parts. On the counter, place it with the control panel facing you; the manufacturer recommends a working height of about 90 cm, adjusted to suit the user. One person can lift and move the blender. Stand it on a surface that slopes no more than 10°, with all four feet resting on it. Do not use the blender outdoors or place it on or near a source of heat.

To build the blender in, unplug it, take off the jug and the sound enclosure, tip the blender backwards, undo the three „Torx“ screws that hold the outer housing of the motor base and lift the housing off — the manual gives the full procedure. Make a 168 × 198 mm cut-out in the worktop. Leave at least 135 mm of clearance below the worktop and 495 mm above it, at least 102 mm between the cut-out and the wall, and at least 30 mm on each side. If you fit several blenders, the manufacturer advises leaving 100 mm between cut-outs. Built in, the blender is 306 mm high. However the blender is installed, the plug must remain easy to reach.

Controls and recipes

The glass touch panel has an LCD screen and six illuminated keys: 1 to 5, and P for pulse. Each key runs a recipe — a preset sequence of speeds and times. The memory holds 30 recipes: smoothies with frozen or fresh fruit and ice, milkshakes and ice-cream drinks, iced coffee and frappé, frozen yoghurt, granitas, frozen cocktails with ice cubes, frozen drinks with ice cubes and juice, thick cocktails and shakes, a medium blend, light fruit juice, and six pulse settings at different speeds. Many recipes come in versions for a small, medium or large batch, and recipe times range from 12 to 34 seconds.

Three ready-made menus of six recipes each are loaded at the factory: Universal, Coffee shop and Juice bar. You switch menus by pressing three keys in quick succession — for example, 2-5-1 selects the Universal menu. The fourth menu, Custom, is empty on delivery: you can assign any of the 30 recipes to any of the six keys and change the assignments as often as you like. Once the Custom menu is set up, the ready-made menus can still be selected without deleting it.

You can also create your own recipes on a computer with free „Santos“ software and transfer them to the blender on a USB stick; the memory has room for six custom recipes. The USB port is also used to update the blender's firmware. A resettable cycle counter (code 4-5-2) shows how many recipes have been run over a given period.

Using the blender

Switch the blender on at the On/Off switch (position 1). Pour the liquid into the jug first, then add soft ingredients, then harder ones, and ice cubes last; evenly sized pieces blend more easily. Fit the lid on the jug and check that the lid is seated properly. Place the jug on the mat only while the motor is stopped. Close the sound enclosure — the screen should show READY. Press the key for the recipe you want; the key stays lit while the cycle runs. The blender stops automatically at the end of the cycle. To stop it earlier, press any of the six keys or turn the switch to 0.

Do not overload the blender: it is better to run a short recipe twice than to double the quantity and the cycle time, because prolonged blending warms the mixture through friction and spoils the texture. If the drink comes out too warm, reduce the speed or the recipe time. If the texture is uneven, put in less, run the cycle longer, cut the food into smaller pieces or add more liquid. If ice cubes stick to the sides of the jug, use less ice or add liquid. High speeds do not suit small quantities: if the mixture bounces around the jug, lower the speed so that the blades stay immersed, or blend a larger quantity.

Remove the stones from fruit such as mangoes, apricots and peaches before blending. Never run the blender with an empty jug, and do not put or store kitchen utensils in the jug. Do not use a jug or blades that are chipped, cracked or broken, or a jug whose blades have any play.

Duty cycle and safety

The blender is designed for intermittent use: 1 minute on, 1 minute off (EN 60335-2-64) — roughly the time it takes to make a drink and serve it. The #62 is not intended for continuous high-volume production.

The blender will not start while the sound enclosure is open (the screen shows LID OPEN), and opening the enclosure during a cycle stops the motor. In the default Pause mode, closing the enclosure again resumes the cycle where it left off, provided the enclosure was open for no more than 30 seconds. Code 4-P-1 switches between this and Quick stop mode, in which opening the enclosure cancels the cycle.

The motor is protected against overheating, overload and overvoltage. If the motor overheats, the screen shows OVER TEMP: turn the switch to 0, unplug the blender and let the motor cool for 20–45 minutes. Too much food or pieces that are too hard can overload the motor; the screen then shows OVERLOAD — reduce the quantity or choose a recipe with lower speeds. If the screen goes blank and the blender is not hot, the overcurrent protection has tripped: unplug the blender, turn the switch to 0 and press the reset button on the underside. If the button will not stay in, let the blender cool down and try again.

The On/Off switch is waterproof, and every blender is tested at the factory after assembly.

Cleaning and care

Switch the blender off and unplug it before cleaning. Cleaning is easiest straight after use, before any food dries on.

The jug has its own cleaning cycle: empty the jug, rinse out as much residue as possible under running water, pour in 600 ml of warm water (40–45 °C) with 2 drops of washing-up liquid, fit the lid and run the cleaning cycle (code 1-4-2, 30 seconds), then rinse the jug thoroughly with clean water. To sanitise the jug, clean it this way first, then fill it with 1 litre of sanitising solution (8 ml of sodium hypochlorite solution with 2.6 % active chlorine, topped up to 1 litre with cold water at 20–30 °C), fit the lid, run the cleaning cycle, leave the solution for 2 minutes and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

The jug and lid can go in the dishwasher, but „Santos“ advises against it so that they last longer. Do not use an abrasive sponge on the jug, the sound enclosure or the control panel, and do not knock the jug against a surface to loosen ingredients — use a flexible spatula instead. Wipe the outer housing of the motor base with a soft damp sponge. Never immerse the motor base in water or clean the blender with a water jet or pressure washer. When the blender is not in use, take the lid off so that the jug is not closed airtight. Handle the blades with care.

No routine maintenance is needed: the bearings are lubricated for life. The jug comes apart completely, blades included, and wear parts such as the bearing, the blades and electrical components can be replaced. The manual explains how to change the drive coupling and the blades; the jug's bearing ring is undone with the „Santos“ 62980 tool. If the blender has not been used for a long time, clean it before use and check the power cord, seals and other parts for damage.

Spare parts are ordered by the manufacturer's part numbers: complete jug — 62100, blade assembly — 62110. Part numbers for everything else are in the spare parts diagram on the ‘Technical Data Sheet’ tab. When ordering, give the model, serial number and electrical data from the rating plate on the underside of the blender. Use only original „Santos“ parts. „Santos“ also makes yellow (62100Y) and red (62100R) jugs — coloured jugs, the manufacturer says, help keep drinks containing allergens separate from the rest — as well as a jug with a milk-foaming agitator (62100M) and a jug rinser (62970).

Dimensions and electrical connection

The blender is 200 mm wide, 247 mm deep and 441 mm high, and weighs 8.3 kg.

Power input is 1,010 W and maximum current 8 A. The #62 connects to a single-phase 220–240 V supply and runs on 50 Hz or 60 Hz without any adjustment. The plug fits a standard earthed socket (2 pole + earth), so no hard-wiring is needed; the circuit must be protected by a residual current device (RCD) and a 16 A fuse. Plug the blender into its own socket, without an extension lead or adapter — otherwise the blender may reset while running. Before plugging in, check that the mains voltage matches the rating plate and that the switch is at 0. Never use the blender with a damaged power cord: the cord must be replaced by an approved „Santos“ dealer, by „Santos“ itself or by a similarly qualified person.
