Integrated Drain Pump

Brema Drain Pump is Brema's DP solution for ice makers that cannot be conveniently connected to a floor drain below the machine. The integrated pump moves drain water to a more practical discharge point and gives more freedom when planning a bar, kitchen or buffet area.

Brema presents it as its proprietary DP System technology and design: the pump is installed inside the machine, the standard water and drain connection points remain unchanged, and the ice maker's footprint does not increase.

Main advantages

①

INSTALLATION LOCATION FREEDOM

The machine can be repositioned within the same bar or kitchen even after commissioning when workflow requirements change. The integrated pump drains water within the technical limits without tying the machine to a lower floor drain.

②

HYGIENIC DRAINAGE

Less stagnant water in the drain pipe and lower risk of ice contamination in the storage bin.

③

REDUCED INSTALLATION TIME

The DP solution can be connected to floor, wall, pipe or siphon drains, making connection work easier for the installation technician.

④

PLUG & PLAY CONNECTION

When the drain point position or height complicates installation, Brema DP System works as a simple and effective Plug & Play solution.

⑤

POWER BLACKOUTS

The DP system collects meltwater and automatically disposes of it when power is restored, regardless of the machine ON/OFF switch position.

⑥

FEWER SCALE ISSUES

Instead of a float switch, Brema uses an air-pressure sensor separated from the hydraulic system, reducing mineral buildup and sensor-jamming risks.

What makes Brema DP System different?

In its official description, Brema presents the DP System as a reliable pressurized drainage solution for ice makers. Water level is controlled without a float switch, and the sensor is not directly exposed to mineral buildup in the drain water. This matters in professional kitchens and bars where equipment runs every day and unplanned downtime disrupts work.

When should you choose the DP version?

The DP version is worth choosing when the ice maker must stand under a counter, on an island, against a wall or in another position where traditional gravity drainage restricts installation. Brema also notes that such a machine is easier to reposition within the same bar or kitchen even after commissioning if the workflow layout changes.

Pebble ice maker „Brema Ice“ TB 852 HC — 90 kg per day

„Brema Ice“ TB 852 HC — pebble ice maker for undercounter installation

The „Brema Ice“ TB 852 HC is a self-contained pebble ice maker („Ice Pebbles“) with a built-in storage bin, made to fit under a counter. At 21 °C air and 15 °C water temperature it makes 90 kg of ice pebbles a day and keeps up to 20 kg in the bin. When the bin is full, production stops; when you take ice out, it restarts automatically.

The machine is made air- or water-cooled; the air-cooled version can also be ordered with a built-in drain pump (DP version). It uses the natural refrigerant R290 and has electromechanical controls. Price and delivery time are available on request — let us know which version you need: air-cooled, water-cooled or air-cooled with a drain pump.

Who it is for

Brema lists bars, nightclubs, fast-food restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, medical and spa facilities, and industry as the sectors this model is intended for. How much ice it makes in 24 hours depends on the room and mains water temperature (manufacturer’s figures):

  • in a cool room (air 10 °C, water 7 °C) — up to 105 kg;
  • under standard conditions (air 21 °C, water 15 °C) — 90 kg;
  • in a hot room (air 32 °C, water 21 °C) — 74 kg.

The bin holds up to 20 kg of ice pebbles.

Ice pebbles („Ice Pebbles“)

TB-series machines make ice pebbles of about 8 × 16 × 7 mm rather than cubes. This is compressed ice with a low water content: Brema states 91 % dryness (GB-series ice flakes are 80–82 %). The pebble size is fixed.

According to Brema, this ice cools quickly and effectively, keeps cooling for longer and is easy to store, handle and portion. It is particularly suited to muddled cocktails.

Build and controls

The cabinet is made of AISI 304 stainless steel with a „Scotch-Brite“ finish, and the evaporator is AISI 304 stainless steel too. The bin is insulated with HCFC-free material and the internal surfaces are rounded, so they are easy to clean. The water basin is dust-proof, and the condenser air filter can be removed and cleaned.

The controls are electromechanical: the machine is switched on with an ON / OFF rocker switch, water is topped up automatically, and a thermostat stops production when the ice in the bin reaches its probe and restarts it when ice is taken out. This machine has no automatic washing and no Wi-Fi — Brema currently offers the „Brema Connect“ app only for CB-series AWS 2.0 Wi models.

Things to consider

  • The bin holds 20 kg. If you need more ice at once, choose the TB 853 HC (30 kg), but it is 910–950 mm high on its feet.
  • It stands on adjustable 110–150 mm feet, so its overall height is 800–840 mm — check the headroom under your counter before you buy.
  • In a hot room (air 32 °C, water 21 °C) the machine makes 74 kg a day. It works at ambient temperatures of 10–43 °C and water temperatures of 3–32 °C.
  • Indoor use only — not in damp places or where it may be splashed with water. Never clean it with a water jet.
  • Supply drinking water only. Brema does not allow reverse osmosis or deionised water and recommends a filter where the water is particularly hard.
  • There is no automatic washing: at least once a month the machine must be cleaned and sanitised with the top and rear panels removed — a job for qualified staff.

The TB 853 HC has the same width, depth and output (90 kg a day), but is 110 mm taller (910–950 mm on its feet) and has a 30 kg bin. The TB 551 HC is smaller (450 × 620 × 680 mm, 685 mm high on its 5 mm feet), but it makes only 57 kg a day, has a 10 kg bin and is not made with a drain pump.

Installation and connections

  • Power: 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 10 A fuse. Connect the machine to an earthed supply through an all-pole circuit breaker with fuses and a residual current device (RCD); the supply must be able to handle the maximum power shown on the rating plate.
  • Water: cold drinking water, 1–6 bar pressure, 3/4″ connection. Fit a shut-off tap between the water mains and the machine’s supply hose and never turn it off while the machine is running; connect it only with the new hose supplied. If the water contains sand or other solid particles, Brema advises fitting a mechanical filter.
  • Drain: gravity drain — the hose (22 mm internal diameter) must not be throttled anywhere and must slope down by at least 15 %, ideally into an open trap. If there is no drain below the machine, choose the drain pump version.
  • Location: a clean room at 10–43 °C (the machine performs best with air at 10–35 °C and water at 3–25 °C), away from heat sources and direct sunlight; Brema advises against cellars and storerooms. Install it where trained staff can keep an eye on it, and leave at least 5 cm of clearance all round.
  • Dimensions: 500 × 660 × 690 mm (W × D × H, without the adjustable 110–150 mm feet; 800–840 mm high on the feet); packed — 550 × 720 × 880 mm, 67 kg.
  • Handling: always keep the machine upright when transporting, storing or moving it. Even to move it slightly, lift it — do not push or pull it.

The machine must be connected to the water and electricity supply by a qualified technician — this is a manufacturer requirement.

Running costs and maintenance

Consumption. Electricity — 13 kWh per 100 kg of ice (measured at 32 °C ambient). Water — 1 l/kg of ice when air-cooled (all the water is turned into ice) and 7 l/kg when water-cooled, seven times as much; at 90 kg a day that is about 90 l and 630 l. Daily figures are our calculation from Brema’s data.

  • Cleaning and sanitising — at least once a month. With the top and rear panels removed, a 25 % white vinegar solution is poured into the water basin and the machine is left running, topped up with solution, until at least 2 litres have been used; then the ice outlet, bin and door are cleaned. Sanitising follows the same steps with a 200 mg/l sodium hypochlorite solution, after which these parts must be rinsed thoroughly with cold water. Discard the ice made in the first 30 minutes after cleaning and any ice already in the bin. The manual reserves this work for skilled, authorised staff, and regular complete sanitising for an authorised service centre.
  • Do not use corrosive substances to remove limescale — they can seriously damage the machine and void the warranty.
  • The water inlet valve filter must be cleaned at least every two months by qualified staff. On air-cooled machines an authorised service centre should also clean the condenser at least every two months, and the condenser air filter must be cleaned at least once a month: switch the machine off, take the filter out and blow it clean with compressed air.
  • Where the water is particularly hard, Brema recommends a multi-purpose cartridge filter. For such water our shop offers the „Everpure“ 4FC-S cartridge with a QL3 head.

Drain pump (DP version)

The DP version is fitted with the „Brema DP System“: the pump is built into the cabinet and takes up no extra space. It lifts drain water up to 1.5 m and pumps it up to 4 m away, or up to 15 m through a downward-sloping pipe, so the machine can be installed even where there is no drain below it. The pump works without a float: to keep scale deposits from jamming it, the water level is monitored by an air-pressure sensor. According to Brema, no water is left standing in the system.
