Ice maker „Brema Ice“ CB 184 HC — 21 kg per day, 13 g cubes

„Brema Ice“ CB 184 HC — undercounter ice maker for the bar

The „Brema Ice“ CB 184 HC is a compact self-contained ice maker with a built-in storage bin, made to fit under a bar counter or worktop. At 21 °C air and 15 °C water temperature it makes 21 kg of clear ice cubes a day and keeps up to 4 kg in the bin. When the bin is full, production stops; when you take ice out, it restarts automatically.

The machine comes with a stainless steel or ABS plastic cabinet (blue or grey) and with air or water cooling. It has the Automatic Washing System (AWS), uses the natural refrigerant R290 and makes 13 g cubes. Choose the cooling and cabinet in the ‘Version’ field and state the ABS colour in the order comments.

Who it is for

Brema lists bars, nightclubs, hotels and restaurants as the sectors this model is intended for. How much ice it makes in 24 hours depends on the room and mains water temperature (manufacturer’s figures for the 13 g cube):

  • in a cool room (air 10 °C, water 7 °C) — up to 23 kg;
  • under standard conditions (air 21 °C, water 15 °C) — 21 kg;
  • in a hot room (air 32 °C, water 21 °C) — 16 kg.

The bin holds up to 4 kg of ice — about 310 cubes of 13 g (our calculation from the manufacturer’s data).

Under standard conditions; up to 23 kg in a cool room.

02

4 kg bin

Insulated, with a door that slides up into the cabinet.

03

13 g cubes

Small cubes for drinks.

04

Automatic washing

The wash and rinse cycle starts at the touch of a button.

05

Steel or ABS cabinet

Stainless steel, or blue or grey ABS plastic.

06

Antiscale filter

The filter can be cleaned and reused.

Cubes — 13 g

The CB 184 HC makes solid cubes („Ice Cube“) shaped like a truncated cone with slightly flattened sides. They are clear and dense, so they chill a drink with little dilution.

Cube size: D — 13 g.

Cabinet, automatic washing and antiscale filter

The CB 184 HC is made with an AISI 304 stainless steel cabinet („Scotch-Brite“ finish) or an ABS plastic cabinet in blue or grey. Output, bin and dimensions are the same; the ABS version costs less.

Automatic washing (AWS): an electronic board runs the wash and rinse cycle, while temperatures are controlled by mechanical thermostats. The antiscale filter can be cleaned.

Which model to choose

  • CB 184 HC — the most compact CB ice maker we offer: 353 × 408 × 583 mm, 21 kg of cubes a day, 4 kg in the bin and automatic washing.
  • For larger cubes (18, 33 or 42 g), more ice, Wi-Fi or a drain pump — the CB 246 HC: 26 kg a day, a 6 kg bin, 387 × 476 × 606 mm.
  • For more stored ice — the CB 249 HC: a 9 kg bin, on the same footprint as the CB 246 HC but 80 mm taller.

Installation and connections

  • Power: 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 10 A fuse. Connect the machine to an earthed supply through an all-pole circuit breaker with a residual current device (RCD); the supply must be able to handle the maximum power shown on the rating plate.
  • Water: connects to the cold drinking-water mains (not reverse-osmosis or deionised water), 1–6 bar pressure, 3/4″ connection. A shut-off tap is needed.
  • Drain: gravity drain into an outlet below the machine — a hose with a 22 mm internal diameter and a fall of at least 15 %, ideally into an open trap.
  • Location: a clean room at 10–43 °C (the machine performs best with air at 10–35 °C and water at 3–25 °C), away from heat sources and direct sunlight; at least 5 cm of clearance all round.
  • Dimensions: 353 × 408 × 583 mm (W × D × H, excluding the 5 mm feet); packed — 415 × 445 × 780 mm, 34 kg.

The machine must be connected to the water and electricity supply by a qualified technician — this is a manufacturer requirement.

Running costs and maintenance

Consumption. Electricity — 35 kWh per 100 kg of ice (measured at 32 °C ambient). Water — 4 l/kg of ice when air-cooled and 25 l/kg when water-cooled, about six times as much; at 21 kg a day that is about 84 l and 525 l. Daily figures are our calculation from Brema’s data.

  • Automatic washing: pour in the cleaning solution and press a single button — the machine defrosts the evaporator, washes for 30 minutes, rinses for 60 minutes and goes back to making ice.
  • Maintenance schedule: cleaning (with a 25 % white vinegar solution or the „Brema“ cleaning kit) and sanitising — monthly, more often with hard water; water inlet filter — every two months; on air-cooled versions, the condenser — every two months (by an authorised service centre). The „Brema Ice“ Kit Cleaner (24 sachets of 55 g) is sold separately in our shop.
  • Where the water is particularly hard, Brema recommends a multi-purpose cartridge filter. For such water our shop offers the „Everpure“ 4FC-S cartridge with a QL3 head.
