Drink mixer with a 0.95 L stainless steel cup
The „Bartscher“ Drink Mixer 650 ml is designed for milkshakes, cocktails, sauces and mixed drinks. It has a 400 W motor and a 0.95 L stainless steel cup that can be filled with up to 650 ml.
According to „Bartscher“, the mixer is made for bars and snack bars. It has two speeds — I (slow) and II (fast) — so it can handle drinks of a wide range of consistencies.
A microswitch in the cup holder stops the motor from starting unless the cup is fitted correctly, and four suction feet keep the mixer from tipping over.
Cup and mixing rod
The cup, mixing rod and mixing discs are all stainless steel. The cup holds 0.95 L and has an easy-to-read scale. Fill it no higher than the top mark (about 650 ml) and no lower than the bottom mark (about 200 ml): with less, the mixing rod cannot reach the ingredients.
The cup is dishwasher-safe. Use only the cup supplied with the mixer. The housing is made of painted sheet steel.
Using the mixer
Before first use, clean and disinfect the parts that come into contact with food — the cup, the mixing rod and the mixing discs. Fill the cup three-quarters full with a solution of a standard disinfectant (follow the disinfectant manufacturer's instructions), fit the cup on the holder and run the mixer at speed I for about 1 minute. Then switch the mixer off, take off the cup, empty it and rinse it with clean water. To shake the water off the mixing rod and discs, fit the empty cup and run the mixer at speed I for about 30 seconds. Wipe the housing with a soft, damp cloth.
Plug the mixer in and make sure the switch is at O. Pour the liquid ingredients into the cup first, then add the solid ones, without going above the top mark. Fit the cup on the holder so that its top rim sits firmly against the holder — only then does the cup press the microswitch. Always switch on at speed I first and only then move to speed II. Mix the drink until it has the consistency you want (1–2 minutes), then return the switch to O, lift the cup slightly to take it off and pour the drink into glasses. Unplug the mixer when you are no longer using it.
For fruit drinks, use chopped or puréed fruit rather than whole fruit. The colder the ingredients, the better the result: the colder the milk, the thicker and frothier the milkshake. Add syrups and powders just before mixing so that they do not sink to the bottom of the cup. With very thin drinks, take particular care not to go above the top mark, so that nothing spills over while mixing. The mixer is not suitable for crushing ice — if a drink needs ice, add it ready crushed.
Intended use and safety
According to the manufacturer's manual, the mixer is not suitable for continuous commercial use. Never leave it running unattended.
The spinning mixing rod and its discs can cut or injure your hands, so while the mixer is running, never put your hands into the cup or use utensils to stir the ingredients or push them down.
The microswitch stops the motor from starting unless the cup is fitted correctly. Unplug the mixer whenever it is not in use.
Cleaning and care
Clean the mixer after every use. To clean the mixing rod, pour about 250 ml of warm water with washing-up liquid into the cup, fit the cup on the holder and run the mixer at speed I for about 30 seconds. Then turn the switch to O, pour the solution away and repeat once or twice with clean warm water. Dry the mixing rod with a lint-free cloth, and rinse the cup with warm water and dry it; the cup can also go in the dishwasher.
Unplug the mixer before cleaning the housing. Never immerse the housing, which contains the motor, in water or any other liquid, and never clean it with a water jet — wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and the power cord with a barely damp cloth, then dry everything thoroughly. Do not use sharp or metal implements, scouring agents, or cleaners containing solvents or corrosive substances.
Spare parts are ordered by the manufacturer's part numbers: cup — 01351051, mixing discs with gasket — 01351055, cup holder — 01351059, microswitch — 01351054, switch — 01351057, set of 4 feet — 01351052. Part numbers for everything else are in the spare parts diagram on the ‘Technical Data Sheet’ tab. Use only genuine „Bartscher“ spare parts and never try to repair the mixer yourself — repairs and opening the housing are a job for qualified technicians.
Dimensions and electrical connection
The mixer is 160 mm wide, 205 mm deep and 500 mm high, and weighs 6.2 kg. Stand it on a level, stable, dry, water- and heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated place, away from the edge of the table, and check that the suction feet have gripped firmly before switching on. Keep it at least 10 cm away from flammable walls and objects, and do not stand it in a damp or wet place.
The 400 W mixer connects to a single-phase 230 V, 50 Hz supply through its own earthed socket — do not plug it into a multi-socket adapter or extension lead. Before plugging in, check that your mains voltage matches the rating plate, and lay the cord where nobody can step on it or trip over it. Never use the mixer with a damaged power cord — the cord must be replaced by the manufacturer's customer service or a qualified electrician.
