„Urnex“ Dezcal™ — descaling powder in a single-dose packet

Citric acid descaler for coffee and espresso machines. One 28 g packet is one descaling dose for a domestic-type machine.

„Urnex“ Dezcal™ is a scale remover made in the USA for fast and effective descaling of boilers and heating elements. It can also be used to maintain taps, sprayheads and milk systems. The product is NSF certified.

The main active ingredient is citric acid (40–60 %), with 3–5 % sulfamic acid and 1–2 % aluminium sulfate. The product is a white granular powder that dissolves in water.

Applications

• Domestic-type coffee and espresso machines.
• Commercial coffee equipment — boilers and heating elements.
• Taps, sprayheads and milk systems.

Directions for use

Dosage. For domestic-type coffee and espresso machines, use one packet (28 g) per litre of water; for commercial equipment, one packet per half a litre of water.

1. Add the contents of the packet to the water and stir until the powder has dissolved.
2. Pour the solution into the machine's water reservoir.
3. Run the solution through the machine as if brewing coffee.
4. Then run clean water through the machine three times.

The exact procedure depends on the machine; if the machine manufacturer specifies a different descaling procedure, follow that instead.

Warning: causes serious eye irritation (H319); may cause respiratory irritation (H335). Avoid breathing dust. Wear eye protection. Call a poison centre or doctor if you feel unwell.
