„Aqualogis“ AL-TES46 — water filter for bean-to-cup coffee machines

A screw-in water filter that replaces the „Krups“ F088 (Claris), „Bosch“ TCZ6003, „Melitta“ Pro Aqua, „Nivona“ NIRF 700 and „AEG“ AEL 01. One filter lasts for 50 L of water or 2 months.

The „Aqualogis“ AL-TES46 is a long screw-in filter that fits into the socket at the bottom of the coffee machine's water tank, where the original filter sat. The machine draws water through the filter, which contains coconut-shell activated carbon, ion-exchange resin and mineralising granules.

What the filter does

  • Better-tasting, more aromatic coffee. The taste of coffee depends heavily on the water: activated carbon reduces the chlorine taste and odour that would otherwise mask the coffee's aroma.
  • Less limescale. Ion-exchange resin softens the water, so less limescale builds up inside the machine.
  • A longer-lasting machine. With less limescale, the machine keeps running smoothly for longer and needs descaling and servicing less often.
  • Cleaner water. According to the manufacturer, the filter also reduces heavy metals and pesticides in the water and raises its pH.

This is not an original filter from „Krups“ or another coffee machine maker, but a compatible „Aqualogis“ product. Each pack holds one filter; the pack states that the filter is UV-sterilised and that its plastic is BPA-free.

Which machines it fits

The filter is designed for bean-to-cup coffee machines whose water tank takes a screw-in F088 / TCZ6003-type filter: „Krups“ EA and XP series, „Siemens“ TK, „Bosch“ TCA and Benvenuto, „Neff“, „Gaggenau“ CM, „AEG“ Cafamosa, „Melitta“ Caffeo and „Nivona“ CafeRomatica. Before ordering, compare this filter with your old one or check the filter code in your machine's manual: machines of the same brand may use a different type of filter.

Use and replacement

  • Screw the filter in place of the old one and prepare it as described in your coffee machine's manual. The pictures on the pack show the usual sequence: with the filter in the tank, fill the tank with water, activate the filter in the machine's menu and run 0.5 L of water through the hot-water or steam nozzle into a container.
  • Replace the filter every 2 months or after 50 L of water (about 400 cups of coffee), whichever comes first.
  • Remove the filter before descaling the machine. If you forget, throw it away after descaling and fit a new one.
  • Do not use the filter with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality unless that water is properly disinfected before or after the filter.
